Apple Leaks Approved iPad Apps

PadGadget did some digging in the iTunes database last night and it looks like Apple has already approved and listed several iPad apps in the App Store.   You won’t find any of these iPad titles using your standard iTunes browser, you need to use Apple’s more recent web interface to find the new titles mixed in with the thousands of regular iPhone and Touch titles.

We did a quick scan and were able to find several titles clearly marked as “HD”, a common label developers are now using to indicate an iPad specific version of their app.  HD is not a universal title for iPad apps, some developers are instead choosing “XL” to denote their iPad version or simply creating a universal build so that both the iPhone and iPad versions are contained in a single app.  There are probably many more titles in the database that have been approved by Apple for the iPad that we haven’t yet stumbled upon. Some of the tiles we found are:

  • Ammoin HD
  • Azkend HD
  • Flight Control HD
  • Grind HD
  • HD Recovery
  • Labyrinth 2 HD
  • NBA Hotshot HD
  • Numba HD
  • Plants vs. Zombie HD
  • Sparkle HD
  • Worms HD

Although the new HD titles appear on the iTunes web site,  if you click on any of the links you simply get an error stating “the item you’ve requested is not currently available in the US store.”

We’re sure this is a simple slip on Apple’s part and don’t know how much longer you’ll be able to browse the catalog to see upcoming iPad apps.  The good news is Apple already has several iPad apps approved and is stocking the store shelves in anticipation of the iPad’s April 3rd release date.

UPDATE: Apple has corrected the iTunes Preview site and HD iPad titles are no longer listed.

the iPad: 4 people with fat fingers

Seriously who is dumb enough to buy one of those

    IT DOESNT SUPPORT FLASH

besides here has been windows tablets THAT ACTUALLY SUPPORT FLASH for a long time

  8. Frank Eastwood says:

how much will it cost to buy books on it?

    • Bill says:

Indications are price points will range from $9.99 to $13.99 for most titles. There was some recent discussion that Apple will also add thousands of free titles from Project Gutenberg.

Flash is a hog, net books suck, they don’ t run the os any better, they can barely handle streaming etc.. you don’ t know what you are talking about. The ipad will be just as successful as all of the stuff Apple has been releasing, look at the pre order numbers!!! All of the haters are wasting your breath and you soon too will have one.

    • I think the iPad is hella cool, but I don’t know which netbooks you’ve been using but mine does streaming video just fine, some high def is a little jerky, but then it’s almost a year old now and the iPad isn’t out yet. The comparision is generally to tablet PCs though, the fact is I’ve yet to see a $500 tablet PC that has near the feature set as an iPad. That being said… I probably won’t buy an iPad, the short battery life and limited form factor turn me off. When I have dough spilling out of my pockets (or if Apple does something about the battery life, color eInk is coming to a device near you soon!) I will consider one, but it more has to do with me not having a use for it than it does the coolness factor. I would buy a black and white eReader first, if I’m being that lazy I’m probably reading, and I probably don’t want a touch screen cause I’ll have my hands all over it, and I don’t want it to die mid sentence so it had better function for days without needing to be recharged.

THE IPAD IS FOR 99% of people who do not know how to use computers anyway, Apple is very smart, all people use computers for is E-mail, games, watching hulu, surfing the net, watching movies. The general public are consumers, not creators or higher end user geeks. This is why it will trounce crappy netbooks running clunky windows!!! Once again, look at the preorder sales. This thing is for college kids who don’ t want to lug around a bunch of books, Grandma and Grandpa, Bless em, the can’ t even make a freakin folder, and Geeks like me who see the long term potential of creating and using apps never before capable without the screen real estate that the ipad has. You lose Apple wins, I love working for my Apple reseller, we rock, get over it, Apple will soon take over the planet. Goodbye:)

Like we haven’t been hearing that with every Apple release for the last 15 years…

I ordered an iPad. It’s a tool and nothing more. It doesn’t introduce anything that doesn’t already exist. If you think it does, you’re a fool. It does a lot of things better. It will do a lot of things poorly.

I pity those whose world is the microcosm of “APPLE VS MICROSOFT”. Understand that 99.9% of the world doesn’t care.

  11. schaeffer says:

The reason why people will buy the ipad isnt because it’s made by apple, its because the the things it can do and the quality although it doesn’t support flash it isnt the end of the world. There will probably be a flash update in the itunes store with in the next 3 months

  12. Smarter than all of you says:

When it comes to technology that is fast and easy to use, Apple will ALWAYS win. Apple invented everything BUT the tablet, and now they’re RE-inventing it. I program on Mac and can do everything and MORE than what windows can do. Every windows computer I’ve had has died or commited suicide (really). Furthuremore, those “windows was my idea” commercials make me mad because everything they mention has been on Mac for over 5 years! iPad will PWN because people trust Apple. So take your little windows fanboy tantrums somewhere else.
