Cooliris Releases a Wikipedia Magazine Experience for iPad

Wikipanion For iPad – Quick App Review

Most of us use Wikipedia on a regular basis, but to be frank, the layout of the website could be more iPad-friendly. Thanks to Wikipanion for iPad, accessing Wikipedia is a lot easier and smoother. The app reformats the pages for the iPad, and saves you from having to zoom in and out to be able to get the information you need. In other words, Wikipanion for iPad makes the Wikipedia experience on the iPad a lot more enjoyable.

The app lets you search entries and keeps track of your searches. It also allows you to bookmark specific pages for later use. It also features:

  • A table of contents browser that keeps track of where you are in a page
  • Multiple search methods, such as Google search, and text-based Wikipedia search
  • Multiple language support and search
  • Image saving to the Photo library, Ogg vorbis audio playback
  • Ability to show a specific location on a map

Wikipanion for iPad is free. The developer also offers an enhanced version for $4.99, called Wikipanion Plus. The enhanced version allows you to queue and save content for offline access. Screenshots available below the fold.
