Steve Jobs ‘Spec Fighter’ Character Kicked in the Face in New LG Optimus Pad Teaser

LG recently uploaded on its YouTube channel a teaser about its upcoming Optimus Pad, another Android-powered tablet about to be released.

Like every other teasers, the video is all about how great the tablet is, but interestingly enough, and if you pay attention, you will notice that the Street Fighter like game featured in the video is not as harmless as it may initially seem: one of the fighters, named “A pad,” is actually modeled after Steve Jobs. Of course, in the video, Steve Jobs gets his butt kicked by the other character, and does not even retaliate.

Steve Jobs Reborn as Darth Vader, iPad 2 Coming Soon, The Daily Launched (Animated News)

Asian animated news channel NMA TV just released a funny video about recent Apple-, and especially iPad-related events.

The video shows Steve Jobs wearing Darth Vader’s helmet (on schedule for world domination), making an appearance at a baseball game to fight against the Motorola Xoom, as well as a “sharkified” Rupert Murdock distributing loads of The Daily, the recently launched iPad-only newspaper.

Despite the silly jokes, NMA actually makes a couple good points about the impact of tablets on our daily life . Enjoy!

The iPad has been a great device for gaming. There are tons of games in the App Store to choose from, and the inventory will continue to grow.

BBC iPlayer iOS App Ready in February?

In 2010, there were plenty of rumors and speculation about the BBC iPlayer service coming to the iPad. The iPlayer has been a very popular Internet and cable television service, developed by the BBC to extend its former RealPlayer-based “Radio Player” and other streamed video content.

Back in 2010, the rumors were targeting a mid-2011 release for the iPad. According to PaidContent, the BBC iPlayer app for iPad/iPhone is almost done and could surprise us by end of February.

Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas is one of the more innovative performers out today and the BEP frontman is proving that again today with the release of his BEP360 iPad & iPhone app.

Several musicians have launched iPad apps but none to date have been as creative or immersive as BEP360.  The app includes several unique features that put you front and center in the making of “The Time,” the band’s hit music video from their latest album.  Users can move their iOS device around 360° and the music video moves in perfect harmony to the user’s movements.  The augmented reality experience makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the music video and have complete control of the camera, definitely a unique experience for any BEP fan.

AirPlay Video Support Comes to Linux Computers

In recent weeks, a few folks have asked me if I knew about a way to leverage Apple’s AirPlay to stream video to Linux-based computers. Up until now, I didn’t know of any solutions for my dear Linux friends.

However, the Totem media player that ships with most Linux distributions now has a new unofficial AirPlay plugin that allows iOS device owners to send content to their Linux-based PCs.

New Angry Birds Seasons Version Coming to iPad and iPhone

Angry Birds fans, rejoice, as the developer of the game Rovio is working on a new version of its Angry Birds Seasons game, specifically built for Valentine’s Day.

The leak came from a German TV channel who posted a report on Rovio on its YouTube channel. The video shows never-before-seen artwork and short videos of a love-themed Angry Birds, that can be seen around 4mins and 20 secs on the video.

The reporter even adds “the designers at Rovio are currently working on new versions of their game, like this update in pink, due to come on the market on 14 February: Valentine’s day.”

D-Link Releases WiFi Camera with Night Vision for iPad and iPhone

Network equipment maker D-Link just took the wraps off of their latest WiFi network camera with all new support for the Apple iPad.  The Day/Night Wireless N Camera (DCS-932L) is built on the company’s previously released WiFi enabled network camera but adds night Infrared (IR) lighting to viewing objects up to a distance of 16 feet.

The DCS-932L supports 802.11 n and can stream motion JPEG video at 20 frames per second.  The camera easily connects to a WiFi network thanks to its support for WiFI Protected Setup (WPS).  Once the camera is connected to your WiFi network, you can easily connect to the camera by using the browser on your computer.

Android Honeycomb for Tablets Trailer hits YouTube

Honeycomb for Tablets, the next generation of Android specifically built to help tablet manufacturers fight against the iPad, is getting close to being launched. Earlier today, Google offered a sneak peak of the upcoming operating system, as the search giant released a trailer to showcase the new OS’s features – note that the video was meant to be seen only by Android developers, but it was leaked in a matter of minutes.

According to the video, Honeycomb was built “entirely for tablet,” with tablet-specific optimizations, such as a completely redesigned interface, and large icons and widgets. While it is still too early to give an opinion about the new operating system, the gap between current and next generation of Android is impressive, as Honeycomb looks extremely polished, and much more user-friendly. In other words, the iPad is finally about to get some competition.

Next-Gen iPad with Flat Shell and Tapered Sides

Last week, Japanese blog MacOtakara showcased a case allegedly built for the second generation iPad. The case showed a flat, thinner design, slightly smaller dimensions, and included a new slotted space for a large wide-range speaker unit, as well as a hole for a rear facing camera.

The blog managed to get a hold of a new case over the weekend, and the new model seems to confirm most of the features sported by the previous case.

Apple Updates Remote App for iPad & iPhone – Includes New AirPlay Features

Apple has released several new features for its remote control app to help owners control their music and video libraries.  The Remote iPad app allows users to remotely control music, movies and TV shows on a Mac / PC or an Apple TV.  The app is able to control the Apple devices over WiFi, giving users complete control of their media library all from the comfort of the their iPhone or iPad.

The latest updates allows users to not only control their music library but also control video.  Thanks to the new AirPlay video support, you can use the Remote app to browse your iTunes movie library and then have the video play from a Mac or PC directly to your Apple TV.

If you’re like me, chances are you have an iPad, iPhone and maybe even an Apple TV sitting around the house. One of the main things I love doing on all these gadgets is watching movies and TV shows streamed directly from Apple’s iTunes service.

If you have a fast connection, HD shows will generally start streaming in 10-30 seconds.  If your Internet connection isn’t fast enough, you might be waiting minutes or even hours before your movie begins to play and it might not be the fault of your broadband connection.

iOS 4.2′s iPad AirPlay Feature Explained

Now that iOS 4.2 for the iPad is out, many of you are probably out there playing with all the latest bells and whistles.  One of the coolest new features is Apple’s AirPlay technology which lets users stream movies, music and photos from their iPad to an Apple TV.  If you have an AirPlay enabled stereo receiver or speaker system, you’ll also be able to push music from your iPad directly to your stereo and it’s all done wirelessly using WiFi.

The best part of AirPlay is that you can control the show directly from your iPad.  You can fast forward, rewind, and even do high-speed scrubbing using the iPad’s music and video controls.  Once you have a song or movie playing on your Apple TV, you can take advantage of iOS 4.2′s multitasking capability and continue using your iPad to surf the web, write e-mails or even play a game while your iPad continues to stream your digital media to the TV.
