Alphabytes – iPad App for Kids

Whether you have the iPad or iPad 2, most parents load at least a few educational apps on their device for children.  If you’re interested in kids apps, Alphabytes is a new one that helps kids master the alphabet, practice writing, test their memory and learn to spell.

Start Alphabytes and pick one of the four activities.  Tap the letters in the left corner of the screen and a bowl of cereal appears.  Kids can then select different letters in the bowl to get interactive examples related to each.  Hammer a few nails, draw with a pencil, strum the zither and much more in this great app.

If you have a little girl at home, iStoryApps recently released an adorable iPad book app perfect for your little princess.

Oceanhouse Media Releases ‘Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed’ for iOS

Oceanhouse Media is at it again!  The popular app developer, together with global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, announced the release of their latest book app today and kids will love it.  Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed is a universal app that works on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Based on the well-known picture book about five little monkeys, this app includes the same funny story and original illustrations that kids know and love.  When the monkeys get ready for bed, they take a bath, brush their teeth, put on their PJs and say goodnight to Mama.  Just when Mama thinks her day is over and the kids are sleeping in bed, fun is only getting started for the rowdy little monkeys.  Each monkey takes a turn jumping on the bed and eventually falls off the bed and bumps his head.  It’s then that Mama calls the doctor and the doctor says, “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”  What happens next?  Read the story with your own little monkeys and laugh together at the funny ending.

Little kids love to play dress-up and now they can do it on the iPad with a cute little app called Swapsies.  Large buttons, fun sounds and a simple swipe of a finger will keep children entertained creating characters dressed up to represent a variety of different occupations.

Start the app and kids will see a little boy standing in the middle of the screen.  Swipe through the collection of hats, tops and pants to create one of eight occupations.  Put the outfits together correctly and kids will see the occupation name appear at the top of the screen and be rewarded with sound.  Then tap the music notes at the top of the page when the outfit is complete and hear sounds appropriate for that occupation.

Interested in a fun puzzle app to entertain your little ones on your iPad?  If so, Shape-O! ABC’s is a perfect choice.  Designed for preschoolers by Bellamon, Shape-O! ABC’s combines puzzles, geometric shapes, words, letters, colors and sounds to create a fun and interesting app children will love.

Kids will enjoy over 100 creative puzzles when they swipe through the selection in the Shape-O!
