Superbowl Ads: Apple Setting the Stage

Super Bowl XLVI

They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, so the iPad should be extra flattered with the news filtering down on what this year’s Super Bowl XLVI ads may look like. Long-touted as the most impressive (and expensive) television commercials of the year, it may also be safe to say that in this day and age they are some of the only spots that are actually watched (instead of skipped thanks to the likes of TiVo and other PVRs).

One of the biggest names out there is pulling together their commercial with cues taken from Apple: skip the usual pomp and circumstance, avoid the predictable celebrity stunts and hit home with something a little different.

iPad Success Helps to Maintain Developer Interest in iOS

Strategy Analytics

Sure some developers are philanthropists and others still are interested in other benefits besides actual cash money, but overwhelmingly apps are created in an effort to make a profit. Apple understands that keeping developers happy is a symbiotic relationship because the richer the software offering the more likely people are to buy their devices. This, combined with a product that can’t seem to fail means sustained developer interest in iOS.

Strategy Analytics just released the results of their developer survey in which they discovered that the iPad is “the most successful platform for enticing developers from other operating systems.”

Republicans Use iPads to Vote in Florida Primary

Everyone CountsSome of the many voters in Florida’s Republican primary elections are making their selection with the use of an iPad along with software designed by Everyone Counts.

Lori Steele, Chairman & CEO of Everyone Counts indicates that voter participation in previous trials of iPads being used as tools to cast votes saw astronomical gains of 1,500%. While it is difficult to tell the reason for the surge, be it an interest in seeing how the new technology works or just increased awareness due to the perceived cool factor (people who tried it are bound to spread the word). Nonetheless Steele is just happy that by using this method there is no chance of hanging chads or lost votes.

Verizon to Allow Data Plan Sharing?

VerizonIf employee training materials can be trusted it looks like Verizon is getting close to their 2011 promise that we would see new data sharing plans for 2012.

Working in much the same way as existing family sharing plans, data could also be shared for a nominal fee for each additional device such as iPad or iPhone (though some conflicting reports seem to indicate that you will only pay a one time “sharing fee” on top of a more expensive and inclusive plan and that there will not actually be a per device charge on top).

Is the iPad the Best Sales Tool Ever?

Often the way to be successful in sales is to have the edge on “the other guy.” Where once all you had to do was dress to impress, now you need to be equipped with all of the requisite tools and resources at your fingertips. Now, clients demand that you can look up any and all details while you stand in front of them. They want you to be able to contact the rest of your team and have answers within moments. These are the things that make the difference between a sale and a lost opportunity.

Enter the iPad, the new pinstripe suit.
