Zeke in Orbit HD – iPad Game Review

Zeke in Orbit HDZeke in Orbit HD is a new take on the classic physics-puzzle style games that have been done to death for the iPad. The premise is very simple: Zeke has been launched into space and requires your help in order to get home.

To bring Zeke home, you need to pull him through space using various gravity nodes that act almost like magnets. This would be a very easy task if it wasn’t for all of the obstacles in the way between Zeke and his exit point for each level.

Extreme Road Trip Makes Driving A Frightening Experience

Is it too soon to make jokes about cars whose gas pedals got stuck and killed people and sent innocent victims of faulty parts to prison for manslaughter? Apparently not, because RoofDog Games has created an iPad game about it.

Extreme Road Trip is a side-scrolling auto-run game that has you in the seat of a runaway car.  Your vehicle’s gas pedal is stuck and you can’t stop until you run out of gas or crash. There are plenty of obstacles to run over, but the real joy is in jumping from small hills.

Analysis of iPad Engagement Shows Users Prefer News

According to a recent analytics study by Localytics, iPad users spend two and a half times longer engaging in news apps than on apps in general.

Based on the analysis, the runner-up for engaging apps is music-related, followed by health and fitness. Based on this, we can assume that the majority of iPad users are probably intellectually stimulating, culturally aware and very fit.

Master Structural Engineering with SimplePhysics for iPad

SimplePhysicsEvery family has the engineer or physics nerd, and in the case of my family we have several. Those are the people who will enjoy SimplePhysics. While this isn’t the kind of game you load up if you are looking for a quick time-sink, it is definitely an interesting one for when you want to immerse yourself in a challenge.

This game is a sequel to the highly successful BridgeBasher (which was just released for Android), so if you enjoyed that one you should be looking forward to this one!

The Revival of a Classic with Alien Space Retro for iPad

Ever heard of a little game called “Asteroids”? It was first released in 1979 in arcade console format, and its juiced up cousin has just made it to the iPad.

Gameplay in the original Asteroids was simple, as it is in Alien Space Retro, but this black and white space shooter has had quite the makeover in 32 years.

Stroke Patients Rehabilitate with Fruit Ninja for iPad

For quite some time now, we have known the addictive powers of Fruit Ninja. But we’ve only just learned about the impressive healing powers it may also contain. Australian neuroscientists Stuart Smith and Penelope McNulty have discovered that certain iPad and Wii games provide a less boring form of physical exercise required by recovering stroke patients.

The swift action required to slice through the fruit that falls from the sky in this game is the perfect combination of motions to increase fine motor skills. Nintendo Wii games round out their prescriptions by offering full body movements.

Words With Friends Facebook App Now Syncs with iPad and iPhone

Words with FriendsIt wouldn’t be entirely wrong to say that Words with Friends is one of the biggest reasons I decided to take the plunge and buy an iPhone. Sure there were plenty of other compelling reasons, but from the moment I first played this game on my sister’s device, I could really see myself enjoying having one of my own.

I like all sorts of games, but give me one that also allows me to be social and to compete against other real human beings instead of a computer and you’re guaranteed to have my attention.

Get your Zombie Killing Fix with Zombie Crisis 3D 2

Zombie Crisis 3D 2: HUNTER HDWho doesn’t love zombies? Even more than that, who doesn’t love trying to kill zombies? Zombie Crisis 3D 2: HUNTER HD lets you vent your aggressions on poor, unsuspecting zombies in true third-person shooting action.

The game is quite straightforward, and easy to get the hang of. There are a few setting options such as bloody or not… and choosing whether to enable auto shooting. I recommend going with bloody. The gore isn’t quite the quality where you need to worry about when you last ate lunch, so why-not have a little splatter with your mayhem?

Dominate Twitter with a Slingshot in Tweet Hunt: Celebirdies for iPad

Tweet Hunt: CelebirdiesRegardless of anything else that may be true about this game, it’s fun to say ‘Celebirdies’. Every time I do, I’m forced to smile. Tweet Hunt: Celebirdies is a classic shooting gallery game, arming you with a slingshot to use against enemy birdies.

I recommend taking some time to try the practice mode to start, because while it is really easy to use the slingshot, aiming is a whole different story… it takes a little getting used to! The important thing to remember is that it’s more about prediction than it is about targeting, because the birds are always on the move.

Embrace Your Love of Bubbles with Drifts HD for iPad

Drifts HDThe deep and profound love of bubbles begins when we are children, and if we are being truthful with ourselves, never goes away. This is what I believe. Drifts HD brings you back to this happy place, delivering a delightfully simple game with enough complexity that you can’t stand to put it down.

The instructions for the game are very simple. You take control of an orange bubble on the screen, sliding it around, tapping it against as many green bubbles as you can find, attracting them to you like magnets.

Demolish HDFor those who love the physics based puzzle games, Demolish HD is a game worth taking a look at. Using a very simple user interface, the game requires you to slingshot balls toward stacks of blocks on a nearby platform until they have all fallen and cleared.

The complexity of the game comes from the varied configurations and considerations as you progress through the levels. There are several types of blocks that all fall in different ways when hit by one of three different sizes of ball that you can choose from.
