Volkswagen’s New Bulli Microbus Integrates iPad

Volkswagen’s iconic hippie Microbus is making a comeback at this year’s Geneva Auto Show and Apple’s iPad plays an integral role in the new vehicle.  The German auto giant first unveiled the Microbus in 1950 and now 61 years later, Volkswagen has packed the latest version with enough new high tech features to bring a smile to the face of hippies everywhere.

The new Bulli Microbus comes equipped with an eco-friendly electronic motor and an integrated iPad control system.  The iPad is centrally located in the Microbus’s center console and serves as the in-car infotainment system.  Driver and passengers can use the iPad to play the car’s stereo system, control navigation features, make hands-free telephone calls and adjust the Bulli’s climate control system.  The iPad also interfaces with the driver’s speedometer and other critical displays to provide an integrated driving information system.

Packing Pro for iPad – App Review

At PadGadget, some of us travel quite a bit. It doesn’t matter for how long I’ve been doing it, but packing is definitely time consuming and sometimes it can become stressful.

When we travel, the biggest thing is trying to remember about everything we need to pack or buy. My challenge has been that I leave everything until the last minute and sometimes depend too much on little notes that I always manage to lose one way or another. In this review, we take a closer look at Packing Pro, which was chosen as a finalist in the iPad Travel App category of the 2010 Best App Ever competition.

Isoball HD for iPad – App Review

If you like puzzlers, Isoball HD is a game you may want to add to your apps wish-list. Isoball HD is an isometric puzzler that will have you build a pathway to guide a marble into a hole. The game looks very much like the old school Marble Madness, with the exception that you do not control the marble directly: the marble will simply roll down a specific path you need to build.

The task sounds easier than it actually is, especially as you progress in the game, as you are offered a limited amount of building blocks to build the path required to guide the marble into the hole. Several basic shapes are offered, from cubes to ramps, as well as more advanced pieces, such as guiding arrows to change the direction of the marble, or bridges, to allow the marble to cross gaps, and even speed boosters, to increase the speed of your marble in order to climb over tall obstacles. All levels typically offer only one valid path, and any digression will result in a broken marble.

iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to Feature New A5 processor, iPad 2 will Come with Older A4

If you’re waiting for the second generation iPad to be released to buy your first tablet, you may be in for some disappointments. While many expected the upcoming tablet to pack a slew of new major features, such as a new retina display, and a new dual-core A5 CPU, it appears that after all, none of them will make it into the iPad 2.

According to Taiwan-based tech news outlet DigiTimes, Apple just awarded the contract for the production of its next-generation A5 CPU, a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, to the Taiwanese chip manufacturer TSMC. While the iPad 2 already entered production several weeks ago, the first A5 chips are expected to be supplied to Apple later this year. In other words, the first device to sport the new CPU will be the iPhone 5, and the iPad 2 will ‘only’ offer an A4 CPU, similar to the one found in the first-generation iPad.

‘Hands’ iPad Wall Mount from Iceblueline – Accessory Review

The iPad may be a great device, its larger size also makes it somewhat cumbersome in many situations. For example, if you use apps like Epicurious or Weber to cook, having your iPad close to your ingredients and/or close to an open flame is a big no-go – even if you use a quick fix like a zip top bag (see here), there is no elegant solution to keep your iPad secured and protected from spills and heat sources. Same goes for the office, as having your iPad lying on your desk while you work is not exactly optimum. Finally, if you happen to watch movies or shows via your iPad, holding it for an extended period of time quickly gets annoying.

To solve this problem, the folks at Iceblueline.com came up with their own line of wallmounts made from curved acrylic that can be mounted flat on any wall. The wallmount used for this review – dubbed ‘Hands’ – cradles your iPad without the use of clips or straps, all you need to do is to install it on a wall, and slide your iPad in the mount.
