Embark on a Musical Exploration with Aweditorium – iPad App Review

Aweditorium is a music-streaming app for iPad with a number of intriguing features. Created by the sixty-one, who also brought us the music sharing website of the same name, Aweditorium exploits much of what the iPad does best. It is at once mysterious and intuitive to use, and the UI is visually stunning.

Users explore Aweditorium’s musical map, which is a giant grid, where each square represents one song by an artist. The app keeps track of how many songs a user has listened to, and what percentage of the map you have explored. While listening there are Pop-Up Video style bubbles that share bits of trivia about the artists. Aweditorium also streams song lyrics. Decide you don’t like a song? No sweat. Just swipe in any direction and a new artist appears, or pinch to zoom and the entire map is yours to peruse.

However, Aweditorium will not display your favorite artists all the time, since the app is entirely based on music you’ve never heard of before (most likely). This is what music start-up Jammbox has set out to resolve with their new app Discovr for iPad.

Wikipedia is a tremendous tool for learning and searching for information. But, one of the biggest challenges is the breadth and depth of information provided by Wikipedia, which can sometimes make it difficult for all of us to navigate its content, scroll through text-heavy articles, or deciding which links to click first.
