Apple Stock Worth Even More, According To Needham – Buy, Buy!
This morning, Barrons reported that Needham & Co.’s Charlie Wolf has valuated Apple’s stock (APPL) to rise to $540, up from his earlier prediction of $450, over the next 12 months. He attributes the increase to the iPad’s overwhelming hold over the tablet market.
Wolf’s February prediction did not take into account the iPad’s value and now says Apple’s tablet is set to capture a significantly larger share of the market than previously predicted.

When Apple released the App Store in 2008, the Cupertino company quickly put a stranglehold on Nintendo’s handheld business, which has seen its handheld console sales decrease over the last few years. Nintendo has used different techniques to combat Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. The Japanese manufacturer aggressively reduced its handheld prices and has also launched the Nintendo 3DS in an effort to keep kids and their families fully engaged.
Back in March, Apple filed a trademark lawsuit against Amazon over the term “App Store,” which Apple says it has exclusive rights to use. Apple claimed that it would be irreparably harmed by Amazon’s use of the name if and when customers confused the two services. Amazon disagreed, and maintained that the term is generic.
It looks like Apple has expanded its social media reach today by adding Twitter to the list. Approximately three hours ago the first tweet was sent out from the @AppStore Twitter account and they’ve already got 27,000 followers and climbing quickly. The AppStore is following 5 people on Twitter: iTunesTrailers, iTunesPodcasts, iTunesTV, iTunesMovies and iTunesMusic.
As of today, nearly 10 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store worldwide. This is an outrageous number and one that certainly speaks to Apple’s success.
