Airfoil Speakers Touch App is Welcomed Back to App Store

AirfoilOnce upon a time, developers at Rogue Amoeba created an app that was able to receive audio directly from iOS devices as well as iTunes. Then, seemingly out of the blue, Apple rejected their app and removed it from the App Store with the explanation that these developers had used private APIs.

The developers maintain that they were not (and are not) using any private APIs and have since discovered that this app (which functions as an audio receiver) annoyed Apple simply because they had that established that connection to iOS and iTunes.

Well, they’re back (at least mostly)!

EA Kills Off ‘Rock Band’ for iPad and iPhone

Rock BandIt’s official, as of May 31, 2012, the original Rock Band iOS app will no longer be playable, with the servers being shut down and support being dropped.

Even though Rockband Reloaded is a pretty fantastic app that we’ve taken the opportunity to recommend, many players still prefer the original (not to mention those who have made a sizable investment into the app which had a USD $9.99 price-tag and even more on extra tunes).

Cargo-Bot, First App Entirely Created on iPad

Cargo-BotIf you need to create an iOS app and you aren’t a developer, there are options available. Proving that not only are they out there, but they are viable and reasonable, developers Two Lives Left have masterminded a free iPad game called Cargo-Bot that is now available in the App Store. Cargo-Bot was created entirely with a development environment available for the iPad called Codea (formerly Codify) which is available in the App Store for USD $9.99.

Cargo-Bot is the first app of its kind that was completely designed, developed and delivered using only an iPad.

Amazon Plans to Challenge Apple, Google by Entering In-App Purchases Program

Amazon’s Kindle Fire made a big splash when it first hit the market in November of 2011. It was among the first low-cost, high-quality tablets to be offered to the public. Many wondered why Amazon would be willing to make and sell a tablet that cost the company more to make than they were selling it for. Industry analysts assumed that Amazon expected that media sales of books and movies for the device would be more profitable in the long run.

Now, according to Bloomberg, Amazon is trying out the in-app purchase phenomenon as a way to generate even more money from their device.
