Facebook to Acquire Mapping Service Waze for $1 Billion

WazeAt the beginning of the year, rumors were going around that Apple was looking into buying the social network mapping service Waze. The rumors were quickly refuted thanks to some clarification that low-level meetings between companies are a regular occurrence in the business world. Today’s rumor regarding Facebook and the aforementioned map app developer has a bit more weight to it. According to Israeli newspaper Caclalist, the term sheet has already been signed.

Supplier Refutes Bloomberg’s Claim: CEO Never Mentioned iPad mini in Forecast

Pegatron CEOEarlier this week, Bloomberg reported that Apple parts supplier Pegatron was forecasting its “biggest drop in consumer-electronics revenue in six quarters as iPad mini demand falls.” Pegatron CEO Jason Cheng later claimed that the article, penned by Tim Culpan, was merely speculation and not based in fact.

That’s not to say that Pegatron isn’t seeing a drop in numbers, it’s just that Cheng never mentioned products or companies by name. Culpan, apparently, added the bit about the iPad mini on his own.

According to a report from CNNMoney’s Apple 2.0 department, Cheng told investors the potential outlook for Pegatron at the company’s Institutional Investors Conference. He spoke about the category of consumer electronic products, which does include tablets, but never gave details on products or customers.

Amazon Cloud Player for iPad Now Available in Ford SYNC AppLink Cars

AmazonAmazon has really been working to make its music service bigger than Apple’s iTunes. In January, the company launched “AutoRip” for its Cloud Player service, which turned every CD you’ve purchased on Amazon for the past 15 years into an MP3 file. In February, the Cloud Player app was optimized for the iPad. Just last month, the online retail giant added vinyl to the list of music purchases that get the AutoRip upgrade. Today, Amazon announced that all SYNC AppLink equipped Fords are now compatible with the iOS Cloud Player app.

Well, according to the New York Times, Foxconn is working on a branded television set for itself in an effort to reduce its reliance on Apple.

Samsung started as a parts manufacturer, making microprocessors and memory chips for other companies.
