Now, the company struggles to keep its celebrity spokespeople from using iPhones instead of BlackBerry devices to sent tweets. RIM is reinventing itself. The company is now called BlackBerry, a new operating system for the device has just been released, and today at BlackBerry Live 2013, the company’s product conference, CEO Thorsten Heins announced that BlackBerry Messenger will soon be available for iOS and Android.

On Mother’s Day, May 12, Hadfield’s Earthbound social networking team published a video on Youtube of the celebrity astronaut singing his own rendition of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. It is pretty phenomenal. Today, Cult of Mac discovered that Hadfield recorded the guitar and vocals on his iPad using GarageBand… in outer space.

Did you know that if you own an iPad you don’t actually need to own a NOOK to purchase eBooks from Barnes and Noble? All you need is the iOS NOOK app, which is free to download from the app store, then you can read NOOK books on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

This is good news for anyone with a B&N gift card burning a hole in his pocket. Plus, thanks to a recent upgrade, the iOS Nook app now supports comics and graphic novels.

Apple Needs to Give Developers a Way to Respond to App Store Reviews

Google Play reply-reviewsMany times, users leave negative comments in the App Store for issues that can be explained or resolved if the person would contact the app’s developer directly instead. Some developers have even added wording to their app’s summary in regards to it. There should be a way for developers to respond to comments, if only to let them know they heard the complaint.

Google just announced that developers now have the ability to respond to user comments in Google Play.

New York Attorney General Wants to Know Why Apple Can’t Build Theft Proof iPads and iPhones

Most stories speak of opportunists who make off with someone’s unattended device. However, there are times when mobile devices are violently removed from their owners. In New York, mobile device-related crime is up so high that it has prompted Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to ask tech companies to do something about it.

According to Bloomberg, New York’s attorney general wrote a letter to Apple Inc., Google Inc., Microsoft Corp., and Samsung Electronics, asking what the companies are doing to combat theft.

ABC’s Update to iOS App Will Support Live TV Stream

abctv According to the New York Times, ABC plans to update its existing iOS App to support live stream TV. As we reported earlier this year, this plan has been in the works for some time, and is about to come to fruition.

Starting this Tuesday, according to Gigaom, ABC viewers in the NYC and Philadelphia metro areas will be able to access this new feature by way of a “live” button within their iOS app. ABC is the first network to bring this capability to the iPad.

This Week’s App Store Editor’s Choice: Running With Friends

Running with Friends 6A new week has begun, and what better way to start it off than with an app that Apple’s editor thinks is the “bees’ knees.” Every week, Apple spotlights a game that has a special something to it. Last week, a fun simulation game created by an indie developer was honored with the nomenclature. Star Command kept me busy all weekend.

Words with Friends skyrocketed to the top spot when it first launched in the App Store. Scrabble enthusiasts and word game fanatics couldn’t get enough of the social game. Since Zynga took over the franchise, the company has launched a number of “…With Friends” titles. You can play a game of hangman in Hanging With Friends, test your strategy skills in Chess With Friends, and now you can try your luck at an endless runner game against others in Running With Friends.
