Apple announced several new map features at this year’s WWDC but if you were hoping for evidence of a turnaround from last year’s mapping fiasco then you are not going to feel 100% satisfied. The new OS X app looks like an extension of the iOS app and while the ability to share routes directly to your iPhone is something that is designed with elegance and promises efficiency, it is a feature that doesn’t justify a switch back from using the superior Google Maps.

iOS in the Car…Will it Change How we Drive?

iOS in the CarAt yesterday’s keynote address at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), Apple took about an hour and a half to show off the new products and software that we can expect this fall. For some of us, the biggest news was the new mobile operating system for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. iPad has Sparked a Revolution – Study Finds One Third of Americans Own a Tablet

A new survey conducted by Pew Research Center’s Pew Internet and American Life Project revealed that, for the first time, more than a third of Americans own a tablet computing device. According to the survey 34 percent of Americans over the age of 18 now own an iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Google Nexus, or Kindle Fire. This figure dwarfs last year’s 18 percent ownership percentage, showing that tablet adoption is still on the rise. When Pew bagan tracking tablet ownership in 2010, only 3 percent of the target group owned a tablet.

Apple Makes it Official: iTunes Radio Coming This Fall

Though we were all disappointed that a new iPad model wasn’t revealed during yesterday’s WWDC Keynote Address, Apple finally officially announced that the release of iTunes Radio this fall. This free radio streaming service will work across platforms, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, as well as Macs and Apple TV.
