iOS Hack Improves iPad’s LTE and HSPA+ Cellular Performance

iPad-ATTAs we get closer to Apple’s release of iOS 7, more and more jailbreak developers are finding ways around the company’s iOS 6 codes. The team that created a hack to allow T-Mobile iPhone 5 users increased data speed has just released a similar hack for AT&T. This one apparently also supports data performance for LTE and HSPA+ for the iPad.

According to Cult of Mac, Joe Brown and Sky Zangas, the creators of iTweakiOS have announced the launch of a tweak to iPads running on AT&T’s network that increases data speeds.

“This hack enables Release 9 DC-HSPA+ on the iPhone 5 and iPad 3, 4, and mini as well as enhancing LTE data and signal. Though AT&T is limited to HSPA+ 21, the device itself becomes more open to an increased amount of bandwidth thus allowing for better throughput of data and data connection,” wrote Brown.

US Military Give the Thumbs up to iPad and iPhone

Apple LogoLast week, Bloomberg reported that Apple’s iOS devices were on the short list for mobile devices that would be approved for Pentagon use. This approval would allow the iPad maker to dig in deep for a long-lasting contract with U.S. Military. Today, Bloomberg reported that the Pentagon has officially cleared Apple devices for use on its network.

This approval puts Apple on the same playing field as Samsung and Blackberry, who were both recently approved for military use as well. According to Bloomberg, now that Apple has joined the ranks, this may prompt a three-way fight for the military market.
