Earlier this month, analysts were championing the downfall of Apple, saying that suppliers had just suffered “the worst February on record.” At the same time, Hon Hai, Foxconn’s parent company, had announced it would be hiring 5,000 new workers for 2013. Today, Bloomberg reports that Hon Hai, in fact, posted record quarterly profits, a significantly different story than leading analysts were predicting only a few weeks ago.
According to Bloomberg, fourth-quarter net income rose 5.6 percent to $1.2 billion. Thanks to finally working out production issues for the iPhone 5, the manufacturing company was able to increase revenue and margins.

As a frequent flyer, I dread both takeoffs and landings because I am forced to stow my iPad and other electronics for several minutes, despite the fact that usage of such devices has not been proven to be harmful to the plane. During that dead zone, my only options are staring at the seat back in front of me or flipping through Skymall.
That is set to change, however, as the Federal Aviation Administration is considering relaxing the rules regarding in-flight usage of electronics. According to The New York Times, people that work as part of an industry group set up to study the issue are reporting that the F.A.A. hopes to change the rules later this year.
The Washington Post has released a major update for its iPad app today, creating a new dynamic news reading experience that features the best of everything from The Post’s well known website.
In the updated version of the iPad app, readers will now be able to access news, blogs, and multimedia content that is updated throughout the day, along with a replica of the print newspaper that includes a 14-day archive and more than 40 different comic strips.
The Peanuts Gang was one of those comic strips that I loved reading in my dad’s newspapers as a kid. He would carefully fold the front page in half and then into thirds for prime one-handed reading while he drank his coffee. I would steal the comics page and spread it out across the living room floor, smashing my elbows into Family Circus and the advertisement page.
The Peanuts Gang was always one of the first strips to read, next to Garfield and Calvin and Hobbs. When Snoopy Coaster launched in the App Store, I was excited to have the chance to go on a super speedy adventure with Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and the rest of the madcap kids, just like I did on my living room floor so many years ago.
