The online Apple Store went down late last night, which is always exciting because it means some kind of update is imminent. When the store came back online, it wasn’t immediately clear what had been changed, but Japanese blog Macotakara tracked down the differences, which ended up being design enhancements when viewing the site on a mobile device like the iPad or the iPhone.
When you visit the online Apple Store via a touchscreen device, you will now notice a new sliding navigation bar that has been implemented for product categories. You can select one of the main categories, such as Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod, and then quickly browse through child categories using that permanent navigation bar which slides back and forth.
