iFixit’s Teardown of iPad Air 2 Shows NFC Chip, Will In-Store Apple Pay be Available in Future Devices?
One of my favorite events to take place after Apple launches a new device is the step-by-step teardown that iFixit does on these brand-new devices. Not only do we learn a lot more about the inner workings of Apple’s mobile devices, but the team has a great sense of humor and their insight is simply fun to read.
Yesterday, iFixit got ahold of a brand new gold model iPad Air 2 with 128GB of storage. The most notable change in this teardown is how much tech was packed into the 6.1mm shell. When it comes to the motherboard’s features, one chip that stands out is the NXP 65V10 NFC module, which is the same one Apple uses in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
