Apple’s Sapphire Glass Supplier Declares Bankruptcy

The company that supplies Apple’s sapphire glass, GT Advanced Technologies, just announced it would file for bankruptcy court protection under Chapter 11. Earlier this year, the company’ stock soared under rumors that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus would include GT’s sapphire glass displays. After both models were revealed to be made with Gorilla glass, the company’s stock plummeted. GT is now seeking protection from debtors as it continues to provide Sapphire glass for the iPhone’s camera and Touch ID components.
