My Newsstand app is full of my favorite subscriptions and I love downloading new issues as they arrive. Google has decided it was time to compete with Apple in the magazine arena by launching their own Newsstand app for Android. Now, tablet owners of all kinds can share in the joy of a new issue on their tablet.

You can receive weekly emails for trips around the world with huge sales of 20 to 70 percent off. This week, the company released an app for the iPad that helps kids get excited about traveling the globe by teaching them where they fit into the world. It is a great geography lesson for adults, as well.

Well, it’s about time. I always use the Apple Store app to purchase products. I live 10 miles from an Apple retail store and it is always packed with people. So, I use the app to browse for what I want, Then, I order it, pay for it, and am able to walk in and out the physical store in just a few minutes. When Apple added their line of tablets and smartphones as an in-store pick up option, I was overjoyed. What I didn’t like was having to use my four-inch screen to purchase my iPad Air in the middle of the night. I’ve always wondered why Apple didn’t optimize the Apple Store app for the iPad.
