GameFly Releases GameCenter App for the iPad

GameFly, the largest online video game rental service, has updated its GameCenter Games app to run on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Don’t confuse GameFly’s app with Apple’s Game Center app. If you’re not familiar with GameFly, think of them as a “Netflix”, but for online video game rentals. GameFly’s GameCenter app allows you to research, rent, and purchase games for many platforms. The newly universal GameCenter app includes improved search and browsing by genres, full-screen HD videos and the ability to share game information via Facebook and Twitter.

Upcoming ‘Real Racing’ Update Brings 4-Way Online Multiplayer

When Apple launched Game Center a few weeks ago we expected many game apps to quickly let you and your friends (or soon-to-be-friends), in on the action.

To no one’s surprise we’re already seeing developers jumping in and bringing in nice features to existing and new games. Firemint just announced they already plan to leverage Game Center, and will be releasing a 4-way online multiplayer update to their great game Real Racing.

USBfever – An iPad Memory Card/USB Adapter

Looking for a quick way to get your pictures onto your iPad for quick viewing and editing? Well, there are several options out there. You can use an application like Photo Transfer to transfer photos over WiFi, or you can use the DSLR Tethered Photo Shooting process that many folks are using these days, or you can simply use Apple’s Camera Connection Kit to transfer photos.

Another alternative is USBfever’s new Memory Card Reader and USB Connection Kit. It provides a slot for SD and SDHC cards as well as a USB port in one single device. The USBfever kit plugs into your iPad’s 30-pin dock connector port allowing you to upload photos via USB or directly from your camera’s memory card. You could also connect your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS to the USBfever device to view and edit photos on your iPad display.

iPad iOS 4.2 Beta Supports Tethering?

Before the iPad’s launch 6 months ago, many were wondering whether tethering capabilities were going to be supported between the iPhone and the iPad. Some folks were debating whether to buy a WiFi iPad, and eventually use their iPhone’s connection for their iPad. Sonos Releases iPad App – A Convenient Music Remote System

Sonos has released their much awaited iPad app onto the App Store. Sonos’ app will turn your iPad into a very convenient mobile music controller for connected WiFi Sonos players around your house. You will be able to play your own music and stream music from a variety of online services. Stay tuned for our upcoming App Review later this week.

In case you’re not familiar with Sonos systems, the company provides a modular set of digital appliances that work with end-user supplied or built-in speakers to form a zoned audio system. You can basically have different music zones around your house that may play the same or different audio.

Apple’s Remote App Now Supports iPad and AppleTV

Apple has already started shipping their AppleTV this week. As expected, it was a matter of time before Apple’s Remote app would get updated to support all that streaming AppleTV consumers are expected to do.

If you’re a novice with Apple’s products, or just bought a new iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch or AppleTV, the Remote app allows you to control iTunes and Apple TV using your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch over your Wi-Fi network. The app allows you to choose playlists, songs, and albums as if you were right in front of your computer or Apple TV. With a flick of your finger, you can control every aspect of the Apple TV user interface.

‘Todo’ 4.0 Major Update Available Now for iPad, iPhone

Developer Appigo has released a new update for their Todo task manager app for iPad and iPhone. This is a major update featuring secure passcode locking, multiple reminder alerts per task, and full support for iOS 4. In addition, the company has added support for a new cloud-based synchronization service for tasks.

Todo is probably one of the most full-featured task apps on the App Store. By integrating new features with iOS 4, Appigo now allows monitoring and completion of tasks during the day even when Todo isn’t running. Todo 4 includes many optimizations that take advantage of multitasking in iOS 4. For example, for iPhone users, when you receive a phone call or switch to another app during a task synchronization, Todo 4 continues to run until the synchronization finishes in the background.

RIM’s PlayBook and Kno’s Tablet – The Latest iPad Rivals

On your mark! Get Set! Go!. The gates have opened and the flurry of tablet competitors are starting to show their faces in the consumer market segment. Today, two new competitors have joined the tablet market frenzy, and have also announced they’re ready to go after the iPad.

During the Blackberry Developer Conference, RIM announced their new tablet, the PlayBook. There have been many articles written about RIM’s “BlackPad” tablet, but I guess the company decided to go for a more market-friendly name. RIM has been working on an “iPad killer” quite aggressively over the last year. Without a doubt they’re looking for ways to attract consumers and many developer communities out there.

iPad Debate Continues Between Apple and Publishers

We’ve heard already about the reports of Apple planning to launch a digital newsstand to help newspapers and magazines sell more content to consumers that have strictly gone digital. It’s no mystery that many consumers have already started to cancel hard copy magazines and newspapers subscriptions.

This is why many publishers want to engage on an iPad magazine subscription model. But, there are several items still been debated between Apple and the publishers. For example, who gets to control the consumer data? Apple will certainly want to know, as much as possible, what’s going on with the users. Another pain point is related to how will the subscriptions revenue get split amongst all the players. Apple will certainly want a nice cut from the revenue stream.

We City for iPad – First Look

If you thought well known game developer ngmoco was going to stop by simply offering you We Rule and We Farm, well, I guess we were all wrong. They’ve released a new social networking game as part of their “We” series called We City.

We City features the same flavor as the previous two games, but instead of challenging you to take control of a medieval town or a farm, the game allows you to create and manage a modern city. The city is populated with over 100 buildings and decorations like cafes, salons, apartments, hospitals, and even hot dog stands.

Orb’s Music Player Fits Nicely With Your iPad

Orb is very well known for their media streaming software, but not as a player in the hardware segment. Many folks use Orb’s software  to placeshift their personal music, photos, videos, live television, and Internet music and video streams from their home PC to their TV, stereo, iPad, mobile phones, PDAs or laptops.

It is quite surprising to see Orb getting into the hardware business so quickly. They have released their Media Player (MP-1) with a very enticing price ($69) for all consumers, and the MP-1 can be used with your iOS devices. ‘NinJump HD’ Joins iPad App Store for FREE

Backflip Studios, developer of App Store hits Paper Toss HD and Ragdoll Blaster, released NinJump HD into the App Store. Check out the video after the break.

This fast-paced ninja climbing game was a success for the iPhone when released back in August. The game now brings the same fast-paced experience to your iPad. Your goal is to rise as high as you can while avoiding killer squirrels, angry birds, enemy ninjas, throwing stars and exploding bombs. New Trailer Released for ‘Tilt to Live HD’

A month ago we wrote about Tilt to Live coming to the iPad. This successful iPhone game is making its way to the iPad, and developer One Man Left Studios has just released the first video trailer (video after the break).

What made this combat-avoidance game fun on the iPhone, it’s the way you control it by tilting and rocking your device. The upcoming iPad version, called Tilt to Live HD, will feature new weapon effects, optimized tilt controls for your iPad, and four times the arena space you get on the iPhone version.
