Yale School of Medicine Gives iPad 2s to its Students

One of the main trends driven by Apple’s iPad has been associated with people starting to use the tablet more and more to read their favorite previously paper-made products. Earlier this year we mentioned how a survey study conducted by OnCampus Research, showed that college students from 19 campuses nationwide were showing their willingness to use e-books rather than traditional textbooks.

Prestigious, Yale University, has certainly taken note of that. The private Ivy League university has given iPads to all its medical students. As Yale’s Daily News describes it – “Yale School of Medicine students’ backpacks just got a whole lot lighter.”

Miramax’s Facebook App Lets You Stream Movies On iPad

Facebook continues its aggressive move towards video content streaming. Although watching movies on Facebook isn’t a new topic for many, the social network company has inked a partnership with Miramax that will bring Facebook users one of the largest streaming movie catalogs.

The Miramax eXperience app is now live (beta) on Facebook and now offers 20 titles for rent in the U.S. and 10 in the U.K. and Turkey. Better yet, the new Miramax rentals can be watched on your iPad.

IBM PC Designer Agrees With Apple’s iPad Effect

We’ve seen numerous analyst reports talking about how the iPad has cannibalized the existing PC and notebook market. Even Apple’s COO, Tim Cook, acknowledged during the company’s last earnings conference the effect of the iPad on the company’s own products.

Based on recent reports it seems that PCs will take on a supporting role to other electronics, such as the iPad, Android tablets, smartphones and connected TVs. One of IBM’s original PC lead engineers seems to agree with the “post-PC” era by admitting his primary computer is now a tablet.

Apple, Exxon Competing for Most Valuable Company Crown

Stock markets fluctuate constantly, of course the current economy will make it even more volatile. Apple and Exxon seem to be following the same trend these days. In recent weeks, both companies have been competing for the most valuable public company in the world (as measured by market capitalization).

Today, for a brief moment, Apple’s market value passed ExxonMobil. Apple reached $341.55 billion in valuation, while ExxonMobil was valued at $341.42 billion.

DirecTV Ponders Hulu Acquisition, iPad DVR Content This Year
