Third Generation iPad Already Retired, WHAT?!

iPad 3Earlier this year, on March 7, I sat at my computer, frantically pushing refresh until I could access the Apple Store and place my order for Apple’s newly announced third generation iPad, complete with Retina screen.

My order went through successfully, and just over a week later, I had my hands on Apple’s gorgeous, thin white tablet. The screen took my breath away, and I certainly wasn’t the only one enthralled with the new tablet. Apple, in fact, sold over a million third generation iPads in just over a day.

The popular accessory maker has already released preorders for the Defender Series for the iPad mini, providing protective cases in black, gray, and pink.

iLuv Intros Lightning Ready Accessories

At today’s Apple event in San Jose, we learned that most of Apple’s products will use the Lightning dock connector. The connector first debuted with the iPhone 5, but it is also in both the new fourth generation iPad and the iPad mini. The Lightning connector famously invalidated thousands of 30-pin iDevice accessories.

Manufacturers have been slow to come out with Lightning compatible accessories, but today, iLuv Creative Technology announced a brand new line of adapters and cables for Apple’s Lightning connector.

First Official iPad mini Accessory now Available in the Apple Store

Apple’s iPad mini was announced today at its event in San Jose, California. The tablet, which clocks in at 7.9-inches was introduced alongside its first accessory – the iPad mini Smart Cover.

The mini Smart Cover, while similar in design to the iPad’s Smart Cover, has a few key differences. It’s not only smaller, but it has no metal hinge. It is designed to wrap all the way around the device.

Apple: 100 Million iPads Sold Since 2010

At today’s event in San Jose, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the company has sold a whopping 100 million iPads since the device first made its debut in April of 2010.

That’s an incredible number for a tablet that’s only been on the market for two years, and sales will only grow with the introduction of both the fourth generation iPad and the brand new iPad mini.

Shocking News: Apple Reveals New Fourth Generation iPad

iPad 3I think we were all taken by surprise at Apple’s event today, when Phil Schiller announced an update to Apple’s full-sized iPad. The new fourth generation iPad with Retina display will be replacing the third generation iPad, which was just released in March of 2012.

The new fourth generation iPad is, as Phil Schiller says, “a powerhouse.” Though it looks the same, the new tablet comes with an A6X chip which is twice as fast as the chip that’s in the previous iPad, and it has a much improved camera.

Apple Announces Revamped iBooks Author, Available Today

Apple’s iPad and Mac event this morning had an educational emphasis, and the company used the time to announce a brand new version of iBooks Author for teachers and publishers.

Apple’s educational iBooks, created with iBooks Author, are now used in more than 2,500 schools, and iBooks textbooks are available for 80 percent of the US high school curriculum.

iBooksApple opened its keynote iPad mini event with its typical numbers rundown, going through iPhone sales, iOS 6 downloads, and more. Then the company followed up with an announcement of a serious update to its iBooks app.

The new iBooks features several new features including flick to scroll, additional languages, better social integration, and improved iCloud capabilities.
