In last week’s edition of Ask the Expert, we had some great questions on watching YouTube videos offline, turning off Game Center, and using the Apple TV. This week we have even more useful questions for you, so check after the break to find out about recovering deleted apps, apps that crash, and how to fix iPads that play sound even when muted.

Back in 2010, UC Irvine began a learning initiative called iMedEd, which furnished first-year medical students with an iPad that came equipped with everything they would need for their first year of coursework.
The program, which aimed to reinvent how medicine was taught, included the development of a comprehensive, iPad-based curriculum. Three years later, it looks like iMedEd is a wild success.
Popsicolor is one of those must have photo apps that does something no other app in the App Store accomplishes. It is unique in a lot of ways, morphing your photos into gorgeous illustrations with high quality watercolor and ink effects.
It may not be a new app, having been released in June of 2012, but Popsicolor is a photo app that I’ve been using faithfully since it first came out, and I wanted to share it with those of you who may not have seen it before. Popsicolor also received a recent update, adding a whole slew of new colors, enhancements, and focus options, making it better than ever.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, with just a few days to go until the big day. It’s the perfect time to play a fun love-and-hearts themed iPad game to get into the holiday spirit, which My Love My Valentine delivers.

Table Top Racing is, by a wide measure, the cutest racing game that I’ve had the pleasure of playing. The game, which features miniature race cars on literal table top tracks, reminds me a lot of the small world perspective in one of my favorite games, Katamari.
This slick little racing game comes from Playrise Digital, the co-creators of Sony PlayStation’s popular racing series “WipEout.” Table Top Racing is a combat racing game, which means you can race all kinds of crazy cars and compete against other racers at the same time.
Pixel People is a freemium game that is reminiscent of NimbleBit games like Tiny Tower and Pocket Planes because of its distinctive pixellated graphics. Make no mistake, though – this is not a NimbleBit title, which will become apparent shortly into the game.
Instead, Pixel People is brought to you by Chillingo. Pixel People is meant to take place in an apocalyptic future, where the majority of human life has been wiped out. Mankind is on the verge of extinction and it is your job to rebuild society.
Popular internet retailer ModCloth launched a new iPad app this morning, giving shoppers a way to make purchases from the indie/retro-style store right on their tablets.
Over the holidays, the husband and wife team behind the website noted that approximately 30 percent of the site’s visits came from mobile devices, prompting them to consider an iPad app.
This morning, Greenlight Capital hedge fund manager David Einhorn filed suit against Apple, demanding that it hand out a portion of its $137 billion to investors. In an interview, Einhorn said that Apple was holding to a “Depression-era” mentality, hoarding cash and only investing in safe, low-yield securities. Greenlight Capital is a major Apple shareholder.
In response, Apple issued a press release saying that the company is actively exploring options for returning additional cash to its shareholders, and that it would “thoroughly evaluate” Greenlight Capital’s proposal to issue some form of preferred stock. Read More »
The iPad mini has been out since October, but we are just now seeing impressive keyboard cases for the device emerge. Yesterday, Logitech revealed its Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for the iPad mini, which claimed to be the thinnest on the market.
Not to be outdone, accessory maker Belkin announced its own iPad mini keyboard today, the FastFit Keyboard case. Belkin is also claiming to have the “lightest and thinnest” keyboard on the market.
Keeping your iPad clean can be an exhausting task. Have you ever wished there was a little robot that would do all the iPad cleaning for you? Well, guess what?
Your wish has been granted! The new Auto Mee S robot from Takara Tomy is like a miniature Roomba for your iPad. Set it down on the tablet, turn it on, and it will polish your iPad until it gleams in just eight minutes, removing dust, fingerprints, and pesky smudges. Read More »
