CBS to Live-Stream NFL Playoffs to Tablets and Other Devices

Cincinnati+Bengals+v+San+Diego+Chargers+45HTQT_FOw1xYesterday, CBS announced that, for the first time, the broadcast company will live-stream coverage of the American Football Conference portion of the National Football League playoffs. The  entire conference will be available to stream on laptops, desktops, and tablets via CBSSports.com.

It is not clear whether iPad users will be able to access live streams of the playoffs through the iOS app. However, the CBS Sports app does offer game stats and highlights of the NFL season, plus live streaming of CBS Radio, so it is likely to be used as a companion app while you watch the Playoffs through a web browser.

“CBS will stream one wildcard round game, two divisional round games and the AFC conference championship game.” The first game of the playoffs takes place Sunday, Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The San Diego Chargers will go head-to-head in a wild cart matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

CBS has successfully catered to iPad users in the past. The CBS Sports App features live video of NCAA Basketball, the PGA Tour, and SEC football games. If the live stream of the NFL playoffs is a success, it is possible the app will be updated next year with the feature.
