It is not uncommon for accessory makers to take big risks and design products for devices that haven’t even been announced yet. Back in June, case maker Gumdrop launched a new line of iPad cases that fit the predicted specs. At the time, the company’s CEO believed Apple would unveil the new iPad at the Worldwide Developer Conference.
Today, accessory maker WaterField is launching a new line of iPad cases that have been designed with the fifth-generation iPad in mind. The question is, does Waterfield know more than we do, or are they simply betting on the rumors to be true?
WaterField’s Outback Solo is a custom fitted case for the fifth-generation iPad. It is made from distressed leather and waxed canvas and features two outside pockets for iPhones and other accessories. The leather flap includes a magnetic closure to keep the cover securely closed, protecting your iPad from the outside elements. There is also an optional leather strap to turn you case into an over-the-shoulder bag.
The Outback Solo comes in tan with a “chocolate” colored leather flap. The case is available for $69 with the optional strap priced at $19. You can preorder the case today from the company’s website with an expected ship date of early November.
