Netflix Officially Rolls Out Profiles to iPad, iPhone and Apple TV Users

Netflix iPad UIEarlier this week, we told you about Netflix’s upcoming rollout of the multiple user profile feature. A few days ago, the company began implementing the option on some subscriber’s Apple TV devices. Today, Netflix has officially announced the launch of the new service. Now, you and your kids can have separate recommendations based on what you like and not what they watch.

Netflix subscribers will be able to create a separate profile for each member of their household for up to five users. Profiles will build a unique viewing structure based on shows you’ve watched, movies you’ve rated, your favorite genres and more. There is no additional cost for the extra profiles.

“We continually innovate and are proud to deliver an even better, more personal Netflix experience,” said Netflix Chief Product Officer Neil Hunt. “Now everyone in your home can have their own Netflix experience, built around the TV shows and movies they enjoy. No longer will your Netflix suggestions be mixed up with those of your kids, a significant other, roommates, or house guests.”

You can even connect your individual profiles to your Facebook account. So, your friends won’t see what your stoner roommate watches and think you have bad taste in movies. Your kids’ friends wont think that they are watching “late night comedies.” Everyone’s viewing habits can finally be their own.

The rollout starts today with all members having access within the next two weeks. Users will be able to create and edit profiles from the website, or through PlayStation 3. Profiles will be accessible to users from most Netflix supported devices, including iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV, among many others.
