It is Monday again. Today is a big day for Apple fans. The company will be hosting a keynote address where they will probably demonstrate iOS 7, as well as possibly announce a few new things, like iRadio, the iWatch, and perhaps even the fifth-generation iPad. Before we get into all of that though, we want to tell you about this week’s App Store Editor’s Choice.
This week, one of Apple’s favorites is a fitness app that stars former NFL great Tony Gonzalez. We told you about FitStar Lab’s contract with the fitness expert in January. You may have thought you were in shape before trying out this exercise program, but you will feel like a total weakling by the time Tony gets done with you.
When you first launch the app, Tony will greet you and explain how the app works. First, enter your height, weight, and fitness goals. Then, you will be asked to perform a 10-minute training workout. Afterward, you will be graded on your performance and can choose which workout regimen you would like to follow.
During the fit test, you will be tasked with six different exercises that focus on different parts of the body. The workout is displayed as video clips with fitness experts performing the exercise to show you how it works. You can display the videos on Apple TV through Airplay mirroring. After each exercise, you will be asked to select how difficult it was for you to complete. You can select Too Easy, Just Right, or Too Brutal. After all six exercises are completed, the app will determine which level of training you should start at. For example, you may be ready to start training leg workouts at level four, but only reach level two for the chest area.
The premium programs include the Daily Dose for $2.99, which is a four-week program with unlimited 10-15 minute sessions for quick, effective workouts with a target of six sessions per week.
The Get Lean program is a 12-week program for $7.99 with unlimited 30-minute sessions that are perfect for weight loss, with a target of four sessions per week.
Get Moving is a free four-week program with two 10-20 minute sessions per week for free. This program is good for maintaining your current fitness level and is capped at two sessions per week.
The Get Strong program lasts eight weeks for $4.99 and offers unlimited 20-40 minute sessions that are ideal for overall fitness gains with a target of three sessions per week.
As you can see, you have a wide variety of fitness options that range in price from free to $7.99. Each of the paid programs includes weekly nutrition emails, HD video, and priority email support
Once you’ve chosen your program, it will generate your sessions based on how you scored in your fit test. So, you will have a customized workout for your specific needs.
