Save a Helpless Toy Lost in a Vending Machine in Cling – iPad Game Review
Cling is a maze style puzzle game where the idea is to help a poor lost creature named Edgar who has been lost inside of a toy vending machine. Edgar needs your help to find his way to the transporter so he can escape from each level. Edgar is tentacled, and will hold on and move between pegs on the screen.
To play, you place and hold a finger on the iPad, guiding the creature through the level to the transporter. The goal is to help Edgar find his way to the end of the level as quickly as possible to earn a high star rating.
There are several different types of pegs. For example, Edgar can stick easily to blue pegs, but green pegs will push him away. Edgar must stay within the boundaries of each stage or he will sustain damage, and it’s also important to avoid red blocks on the edges. If Edgar hits a red block, he will be electrocuted and you will need restart the level from the last checkpoint.

Because of the dangers, you will need to move quickly but cautiously in order to complete levels safely, which can be a challenge as the game progresses and new obstacles are introduced.
During levels, you might come across items stuck in the pegs. If you gather them up, they will be added to the dressing room. Accessories like hats that are in the dressing room can be used to give Edgar a snazzy new look. You’ll also be able to gather up gumdrops, which are the game’s currency.
You can use gumdrops in the shop to purchase additional characters and accessories. There are quite an array of accessories, but they have quite high gumdrop price tags, which is a bit disappointing. You will need to play a lot of games to get enough gumdrops to unlock characters and accessories at a good pace, or shell out cash.

Despite the high cost of extras, Cling provides challenging puzzle gameplay that will test your patience and your skill. It’s one of those games that melds perfectly with the iPad’s touchscreen to create an immersive, addictive experience. If you love unique puzzle games, Cling is a must have.
What I liked: I really loved Cling’s muted pastel-but-mechanical graphics. It worked really well, and Edgar is an endearing protagonist.
What I didn’t like: Cling actually ranges on the difficult side. Even in early levels, scoring a gold medal is a serious challenge. Though its hard, the difficulty level does add replay value to the game.
To buy or not to buy: Cling is currently on sale for $0.99 (down from $2.99) so now is a great time to pick it up.
