Welcome to another edition of Wacky App Wednesday, where I share some of the craziest, wackiest, and most awesome apps in the App Store. Last week I shared super fun creature creation app Daily Monster, and this week I have another silly app for you guys: a genie that will guess what you’re thinking.
Have you ever wished there was an app that could read your mind? Is 20 questions a game that you just can’t get enough of? If you answered yes to either of those questions, you will want to check out this week’s wacky app, Akinator the Genie.
Akinator is a mystical, magical genie who uses his superpowers to guess what character you’re thinking about, which he figures out just by asking you a few simple questions.
The idea is to think of a real or fictional character. Akinator will ask simple yes or no questions to narrow down your target. For example, he might ask if your character is a singer, or if he or she has blonde hair. All of these questions help Akinator guess what you’re thinking of, and the app is surprisingly accurate so long as you are truthful.
It is, of course, just a 20 questions app. There are several apps and children’s toys that do essentially the same thing by using an increasingly narrow pool of candidates, but Akinator does slap on a fun genie theme. Because Akinator connects to the Internet to get answers, you will need a Wi-Fi or cellular connection to use the app.
Despite this limitation, Akinator is an app that’s sure to amaze your friends and family. Make a guess and Akinator will figure out the answer! There’s a handy dandy child filter that will keep any inappropriate content locked away, which means Akinator the Genie is also a great choice for kids.
Want to try it out? You can download Akinator the Genie onto your iPad for just $1.99.
