Square’s ‘Business in a Box’ Bundle Turns iPad into a Physical Cash Register

Square Business in a Box

Square, the payment company that has revolutionized retail sales in the U.S., recently launched their newest small business package. Business in a Box makes it easier than ever for companies to simplify Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions in their stores.

First, Square came out with a simple app and reader that would allow retailers to swipe customers’ credit cards and approve transactions with their iPhones and iPads. Then, the company launched Square Register, which allows the iPad to be used as a full screen register with pictures for items and a place for adding gratuity. Businesses can add customer loyalty tracking and rewards programs and see up to the minute details on sales performances.

Now, with Business in a Box, retailers can streamline their POS transactions with everything they need in one package. Business in a Box includes two square readers, an iPad stand, a cash drawer and an optional receipt printer that is wirelessly compatible with AirPrint. The only thing you’ll need to supply is the iPad itself.

The Square Reader plugs into the iPad’s audio jack and is used to swipe credit cards for quick reading and authorization. The iPad stand is the Heckler Design WindFall stand so you can secure your iPad to your countertop to dissuade sticky fingers. It features a swivel mount so you can easily spin it around for customer signatures. The cash drawer is an APG Vasario 1616 that you can mount anywhere that is convenient for your counter space. It communicates with the Square Register app so that users can open the drawer with just a tap on the app. The optional printer is a Star Micronics TSP 143L model that is specially designed for retailers so you can print customer receipts, daily sales reports, and summaries wirelessly from your iPad.

Business in a Box starts at $299 for the paperless package or $599 for the wireless receipt printer package.  You can order from the company’s website today and start your business tomorrow.
