Intuit Launches iPad Optimized Version of QuickBooks Online for Small Business Owners

quickbooksIntuit launched a new mobile QuickBooks app for the iPad Thursday morning, giving small business owners a handy new way to access the QuickBooks Online service.

With QuickBooks Online for iPad, small businesses can quickly and easily complete important tasks on the go, allowing for improved customer service results and more time for other tasks.

The app allows QuickBooks Online users to create and send professional estimates and invoices right on the iPad and get estimate approvals via electronic signatures to expedite jobs, two major time savers.

There’s also an option in the app to capture photos and notes, which will help small business owners record important project details.  Plus, a complete history of customer interactions, including notes and sales, will improve customer service.

In addition to having customer service tools right at their fingertips, small business owners can also access and organize their finances with the iPad app. It provides interactive reports and charts that offer at-a-glance snapshots of income and expenses, along with the ability to take photos of receipts to be used later at tax time.

An activity feed provides an overall look at business updates, with access to recent activity and a “Needs Attention” view, so users can focus on actions that require immediate attention like overdue accounts or upcoming invoices.

“Managing a small business is a different game today than it was a few years ago, due in large part to the proliferation of smartphones and tablets,” said Dan Wernikoff, senior vice president and general manager of Intuit’s Financial Management Solutions division.

“We found that more than 20 percent of QuickBooks Mobile for iPhone users access the app through iPads. And, customers … told us they need more than mobile point solutions – they need an all-in-one app that lets them work in a whole new way, and that’s what we created.”

QuickBooks Online for the iPad is offered as a free app in the App Store, but to use it, you will need to be a QuickBooks Online subscriber. This service costs $12.99 per month or $124.99 per year, and includes access to QuickBooks Online on the web, QuickBooks online for the iPhone (or Android) and QuickBooks online for iPad.

As a QuickBooks online user I am amazed at the things they left out of this app. For example, your balance. And if you have more than one register, you can’t see them, just the whole picture. I wrote to them asking why these things were left out. They wrote back that they didn’t think most users needed to see those things.
