This Valentine’s Day, Apple’s iPad is the Preferred Companion For Singles

iPad-Valentines-Day

As the lover’s holiday unfolds, researchers across the nation want to know what the perfect Valentine’s Day is. Would you rather go out to a fancy dinner or have your sweetheart cook you a private meal for two? Would you like a diamond ring from your loved one or would an electronic gadget make you happier? According to a survey from Logitech, singles love their iPads more than real-life romance.

Logitech, in conjunction with Wakefield Research, surveyed 2,000 single adults in the US, UK, France and Germany with 500 interviews between Jan. 7 and 15, 2013 through email and online invitations. It turns out that singles love their iPads a whole lot.

Of the surveyed participants, 43 percent said they would be equally or more upset about breaking their iPad as they would about breaking up with a boyfriend or girlfriend.

In this entertaining survey, participants were asked some questions regarding tablets in bed. It turns out that 93 percent of U.S. participants said they use their devices in bed. No snuggle time here.

Additionally, 21 percent of single Americans admitted to damaging their tablets or smartphones while in the throes of passion. How does that even happen?

If you think your partner lacks intimacy, you’re not alone. Nearly three-quarters of respondents don’t think there is anything wrong with using their iPads right after “hitting the sheets.” The lucky partners of 13 percent said they believe it is more appropriate to wait until their significant other goes to sleep.

Ladies, don’t go pointing the finger at your aloof boyfriends and husbands. According to the survey, 48 percent of women would rather spend the “morning after” with their iPads than their dates. Only 25 percent of men share the same sentiment.

There used to be a time when technology made a person geeky. These days, 72 percent of women and 53 percent of men feel they are better with online communication than face-to-face interaction, even though 31 percent of tablet owners have admitted to embarrassing auto-correct mishaps while typing flirtatious messages on their devices.

Tonight, if you find yourself on a date, longing for the moment you can make it back home for a quiet night with just you and your iPad, you’re not alone. Maybe the iPad is your “other half.”
