PadGadget Photobooth: Use Your iPad to Send Personalized Valentine’s Day Photo Cards

Ink_CardsFebruary 14th is approaching quickly and if you want to send your loved ones a reminder that you’re thinking of them on Valentine’s Day, now is the time to get those cards out.

Forget going to the store and picking out a run-of-the-mill card with a canned saying – you can create your own personalized Valentine’s Day greetings right on your iPad. Want to know the best part? It will only take a few minutes out of your day, leaving you more time to daydream about all of those Valentine’s chocolates you’ll get to eat next week.

So the first step is to download an app that has postcard functionality. There are a few that are designed for the iPad in the App Store, but my favorite is Ink Cards by Sincerely.

Ink Cards has cards for every occasion, with plenty of featured designs available for Valentine’s Day. Simply select a design that you like, and then move on to the personalization options.

The majority of cards in the app are photo based, so you can enter a photo of yourself, the kids, the cat, or anything else your heart desires.

Of course, there are also plenty of designs you can use if you don’t have a photo available or would rather send a simple, quick greeting. Adding in photos and text only takes a few minutes, and from there, you can flip it over to type a message on the back of the card.

After that, the final step is to log into the app, which, as I mentioned earlier, is powered by Sincerely. You need to create an account, which will allow you to add in funds and add addresses to your address book. Once an address is established, you don’t need to put it in again – it’s saved for all of your future card sending needs.

Each Sincerely card costs 10 credits to send. It costs $9.90 for 50 credits, pricing your Valentine’s at $1.98 each, with postage included. In my estimate, that’s cheaper than going out, buying cards, getting stamps, filling out the cards, adding stamps, and mailing them out.

I should point out that any leftover credits can be used in several other apps to purchase cards and prints. Sincerely has partnered up with a slew of different developers to offer their printing services. Get a list here.

Once you’ve entered addresses, your cards are ready to send. Just tap the send button and Sincerely will do all the hard work. It’s that simple!

Have any questions about the process? Ask in the comments and I’ll help you out. As always, make sure to tune into PadGadget Photobooth next week for even more iPad photography news and tips!
