Less than a week ago, Apple surprised the nation by announcing the launch of a larger capacity iPad. With no warning and only the weakest of rumors, the iPad “plus,” as some are calling it, was brought into this world. Today, the 128GB iPad is available for purchase.
Weighing in at $799 for the Wi-Fi only model and $929 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, the new power horse will be available to ship in 1-3 business days (At that price, it seems more reasonable to just get an 11-inch MacBook Air for $999). You can order from Apple’s online store. There is no official information at this time as to availability at authorized resellers.
The 128GB iPad looks the same, weighs the same, and has the same everything, except the storage capacity is on a massive scale. Based on Apple’s press release, the company made the decision to release a larger-capacity model in order to appeal to the business industry. “With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
