CES 2013 iPad Case Roundup

It is not unusual for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be the springboard for a plethora of upcoming gadgets, electronics, accessories, and more. With the massive influx of iPad cases that are being unveiled this year, we’ve got a round up of some of our favorites.
Joy Factory’s aXtion pro is a rugged, waterproof, shockproof iPad and iPad mini case that will keep your tablet protected from practically any disaster. It can be taken underwater for use, without getting wet. The rugged design is made to pass military grade shockproof standards to protect from drops, kicks, and all kinds of impact. The aXtion line of products includes additional accessories like the Heavy Duty Carrying Handle, Heavy Duty Shoulder Strap, Mag Connect Adaptor and more. The case will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2013 for $149.95 for the iPad and $129.95 for the iPad mini.
Marware’s Kid-Friendly swurve for iPad mini is made from lightweight, durable foam with thick, reinforced corners and raised front edges to protect the screen when lying flat. It provides shock absorption and impact resistance to handle bumps, drops, and other kid-related (and adult-related) accidents. The protective cover comes in pink, blue, black and lime green for the iPad mini and will be available for $29.99 at select retailers. LifeProof’s nüüd iPad case is a waterproof case made with double AR coated real glass lens for the camera, a transparent backing, large speaker ports with LifeProof’s Sound Enhancement System, lightweight shock-absorbing casing and the company’s patented “naked screen technology” that does not degrade the visual clarity of the screen. All iPad controls are fully accessible using specially designed waterproof buttons. The nüüd is now available in black or white and additional accessories can be purchased for the case, including the Hand and Shoulder Straps and floating LifeJacket accessories. Native Union’s GRIPSTER Wrap and Type are new accessories to compliment the company’s pre-existing GRIPSTER iPad holder. The Wrap is an integrated “snap and wrap” system that works with the GRIPSTER to turn the 3-in-1 system into a six-fold system. The Type is a Bluetooth-enabled keyboard that lasts up to six months on a single charge. There is not information on the cost of either accessory, but they are expected to launch in spring or summer of 2013 in gray, red, or black. M-Edge’s Kid-Friendly SuperShell for iPad mini is made from ultra-protective closed cell foam that absorbs shock. It wraps around the border with thick, high-impact corners for maximum protection. The dimpled texture allows for a no-slip grip. The SuperShell for iPad mini comes in red or blue and is available now for $34.99 from the company’s website.
Targus’ Rugged Max Pro is designed to offer protection for the most active iPad user. It is made from hardened polycarbonate with shock absorbing silicone and a built-in screen protector. The silicone plugs keep dirt out and the double padded corners add extra protection. The Rugged Max Pro is expected to launch later this year from company’s website for $69.99 for the iPad and $59.99 for the iPad mini.
Rokform’s RokShield v3 for iPad mini is a protective case that integrates advanced mounting capabilities with the included Easy Stick remote mounting system. This mount allows the iPad mini to be firmly positioned on almost any surface. The optional magnet kit lets users secure the tablet to magnetic surfaces. The cover provides maximum protection with a shock absorbing outer bumper and high impact polycarbonate frame. The iPad mini RokShield v3 will be available later this month for $49. iFrogz Kid-Friendly Animatone Tumble is a strong but lightweight case that features a handle to allow for easy carrying. The case is made from durable soft foam and is adjustable for various viewing angles while standing on a flat surface. Speck’s CandyShell for iPad mini has a hard outer shell to guard against impact and a glossy finish for a sleek, stylish look. The exterior is complemented by a soft, rubbery interior that absorbs shock from occasional bumps and drops.
