Seagate Hard Drive Lets You Wirelessly Stream Movies to 8 Different iOS Devices

wireless-plusHow do you watch movies on your iPad? Do you transfer your DVDs to digital files and store them in iCloud? Do you rent or buy them on iTunes? When you are traveling, how do you bring your media with you? Seagate wondered those same questions and came up with a solution that lets you take more than 500 movies on the road with you on a 1 TB drive that connects to your iPad with its own Wi-Fi network.

The Seagate Wireless Plus mobile device storage is designed to wirelessly stream content for up to eight devices. The drive has enough storage capacity for up to 500 high-definition moves, or thousands of songs, photos, videos, and more.

Not only can you take your movies with you, the Seagate Wireless Plus includes the ability to save content to the drive from your iPhone or iPad wirelessly through the Seagate Media app. So, you can watch preloaded movies anywhere, without a Wi-Fi connection, or upload movies that you’ve just bought on your iPad using the Seagate Media app.

“Smartphones and tablets offer amazing new opportunities for Seagate to provide new consumer storage solutions in an increasingly mobile world,” said Scott Horn, vice president of marketing at Seagate. “Seagate developed the concept of wireless storage to consumers with the freedom to enjoy their documents, movies, photos and music anywhere in the world, especially when they can’t connect to the Internet.”

If you are on a trip with the family, you don’t have to worry about who gets to use the Seagate Wireless Plus. You can stream up to three different movies on three different devices at the same time. So, if you want to watch “Night of the Living Dead” while the kids want to watch “Brave” and “The Hunger Games,” you no longer have to fight for your right to pick the movie.

The driver supports up to 10 hours of battery life and is AirPlay compatible. Users can also mirror content to Apple TV to watch movies on a living room TV screen. It is three-and-a-half inches thick and about five inches tall. It weighs just over half a pound. It isn’t exactly lightweight, but the amount of space it takes up in your bag is reasonable considering the 500 movies you don’t have to pack.

You can preorder the Seagate Wireless Plus for $199.99 (Amazon). To find out more about the device, visit the company’s website.
