Comcast Xfinity TV Allows Users To Watch Offline

For the first time, Xfinity customers will be able to download content and watch it without an Internet connection with the new On Demand and offline feature with the Xfinity TV Player app for iPad and iPhone. So now, you’ll be able to watch Dexter on the bus without it eating up your data minutes.

Xfinity Comcast subscribers can download thousands of titles from Showtime, Starz, Encore, and MoviePlex through the Xfinity TV Player app when an Internet connection is available and then take their device outside of connected range to watch the chosen content.

“Millions of smartphone and tablet users in the U.S. watch video on their mobile devices. With that in mind, Comcast is continuously innovating the TV experience and developing new features and tools that provide our customers with more options for how, when and where they watch content,” said Charlie Herrin, Senior Vice President of Product Design and Development at Comcast Cable. “Today’s Xfinity TV Player enhancement underscores that commitment to our customers by adding more flexibility for them to watch entertainment on their terms – now without having to rely on an Internet connection to watch their favorite programming while on-the-go.”

Additionally, Comcast and Verizon have teamed up to offer customers the ability to download and stream movies and TV shows through 4G LTE.

The XFinity TV Player app is specifically designed to allow subscribers the ability to watch movies and television show from more than 18,500 streaming On Demand and thousands of downloadable choices directly to their device. It is free to download in the App Store, but users must be Xfinity customers to watch content.
