Facebook for iOS Update Improves Feed and Timeline Speeds, Adds Photo Albums

Facebook for iPadFacebook launched its native Android app today and at the same time, updated its Facebook for iOS app. The new version of Facebook features speed enhancements for the News Feed and Timeline, plus photo improvements.

Users can now post multiple pictures directly to albums, which was not an option previously available on iOS, and Facebook says that the Timeline was entirely rebuilt for to load more quickly on the iPhone, which should also mean that it’s faster on the iPad.

Here’s a full list of the updates:

  • Post your photos to albums and enjoy a speedier app.
  • You can now choose an album when uploading photos
  • News feed loads more quickly
  • Completely rebuilt timeline opens faster on your iPhone

At first use, the app does appear to be loading much faster on my iPad, and the ability to organize photos into albums is a welcome update.

Facebook is a universal app that can be downloaded in the App Store.

Looking forward to trying this out. The last few versions have seemed a real step backward in performance.

It’s definitely an improvement so far, I think. Seems faster.
