2012 was a big year, with the Olympics in London, the election, Hurricane Sandy, and the rise of Psy and his ultra popular Gangnam Style music video, but one product beat out all the rest when it comes to news – the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5 was the most searched for news item, topping the Olympics, the elections, and Hurricane Sandy. The iPhone 5 and the iPad were also the most searched for consumer electronic terms, beating out the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Kindle.
Apple’s third generation iPad launched in March, the iPhone 5 launched in September, and the iPad mini and the fourth generation iPad came out in October, making it a huge year for the Cupertino-based company.
Bing’s top searches also took a look at the most searched for apps, which included social, music, and game apps. Pandora, Words with Friends, and iHeartRadio ended up being the most popular apps.
