British Bank Buys 8,500 iPads for Staff

iPads are becoming increasingly common among employees at retail stores and in schools, but now you may be finding Apple’s tablets in your bank, too. Barclays Bank recently bought 8,500 tablets for its employees, which will be used to assist with customer interactions and improve the customer experience.

The deal, which was made with iPad reseller Insight UK, is thought to be the largest roll out of the iPad in the financial sector thus far, and the iPad was chosen due to staff demand.

“We investigated a number of different tablet options and in this instance, we concluded that iPads were the best solution for their specific needs. We are now starting to use these across Barclays branches in the UK,” said a Barclays PR representative.

Barclays will be using an app known as Mortgage Brain on its iPads, which is an app that has been developed for mortgage brokers. There’s no word on what other apps the iPads might run, but if you bank with Barclays, expect to see the tablets in use soon.
