Apple to Bring Movie Ticket Sales to Siri with iOS 6.1

According to beta testers using Apple’s forthcoming iOS update, Siri will be able to purchase your tickets for you through fandango. Once iOS 6.1 is installed on your Siri-compatible device, you’ll be able to ask her to buy tickets to certain movies.

Currently, users can ask Siri for show times and theater locations for certain movies and the results will be listed for you, including a summary of the movie, the Rotten Tomatoes score, and a link to which theaters near you are showing it and when.

With iOS 6.1, Siri will also include a link to Fandango’s app where you can purchase tickets. According to 9to5Mac, if a user doesn’t have the Fandango app, they will be redirected to the App Store where they will be able to download it.

When it first releases, the ticketing purchase feature will only be available in the U.S. and not all theaters will offer ticket sales through Fandango. Compatible theaters will have a Siri icon listed next to them.
