DK Quiz Makes Learning Fun And Challenging – iPad Game Review

DK Quiz is a quiz show type app that will test your knowledge with quizzes on hundreds of subjects including music, film, history, food, travel, insects, inventions, plants, animals, and more.

You can play this quiz game by yourself, or go head to head with your friends in challenge mode. It doesn’t matter how you play – by yourself or with friends – you’re guaranteed to have fun and learn something in the process.

When you first start the app, you can play offline, or connect it to your Facebook so that you can play against friends. There’s also the option to register with your email so that you can connect if you don’t have a Facebook account.

If you want to play without connecting to any online accounts, you can play solo, which is plenty fun.

There are several categories to choose from, like Around the World, Food, and History. In each category, there are a number of different quizzes you can play, many of them for free. For example, in the “Food” category, there are 10 different quizzes, and six of those are free.

When you take a quiz, the goal is to answer the questions as fast as possible to get the most points. I was pleased with the wide variety of quiz subjects available – it ranged from pastries and cats to bugs and movies.

Here are some sample questions you might find:

What is the most commonly owned dog?

Who plays Andie Walsh in Pretty in Pink?

Who played drums for the band Genesis?

If you’re having trouble during a quiz, there are three life savers that you can use to freeze the clock, remove half the answers, or auto answer. Of course, using these takes coins, which you will need to earn or purchase in the app.

Luckily, you don’t need coins to play the free quizzes, and there’s quite a bit of free content to be had before you need to shell out cash for additional quizzes. Coins are also generously priced, so you can buy most of the content for just $0.99, a worthwhile investment in this fun quiz game.

When you’re done playing, you can compare your scores with your friends to see how you measure up, and challenge them to beat your own high scores.

What I liked: Questions are challenging, but not too hard. There were things I knew, and some things that I didn’t know. I liked the style of the quizzes, which really made answering questions a lot of fun. I’d love an app like this that allowed me to enter in my own study questions.

What I didn’t like: This app uses some very low quality graphics for the pictures, which look downright terrible on the third generation iPad. There’s no way to exit a quiz you’ve already begun.

To buy or not to buy: DK Quizzes is a free download and has a lot of immediately accessible content, so I’d highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy trivia style apps.
