Don’t Get Caught in this GridBlock – iPad App Review

GridBlock is a puzzle game that comes straight from the future. Tilt and tap your way through complex grids and exploding blocks to win the ultimate challenge. Players must lock certain colors of blocks into place by sliding them around on a grid. To make the blocks move, tilt your device. To make them jump, tap the screen. As they slide around, they will eventually make it to their appropriate color and lock into place. When you have all colored squares filled, you have successfully completed a puzzle.

Some blocks have multiple colors on them. In order to change their color, tap the screen while they are moving and the blocks will flip over and reveal another color. Some blocks are multi-colored and are able to fill any needed spot.

Pay attention to the blocks you have and the squares that need to be filled. If you have a red block, a blue block and a multi-colored block with two blue spots on the grid, you don’t want to let the multi-colored one fall into a red spot. If that happens, you won’t have enough blue blocks to complete the puzzle.

Some blocks explode and some blocks turn colored ones into exploding blocks. Some are locked when the level starts and must be unlocked by exploding a nearby bomb block.

There are nine different worlds with 80 different levels, each more difficult than the next. Players can unlock all nine levels for only $2.99, but the first two levels are free.

What I liked: This game is unique and looks amazing. I love the Tron-style graphics and the electronic dance music. The puzzles are very challenging, but not so frustrating that you give up.

What I didn’t like: Nothing. This game is fantastic. It has everything you’d want in a puzzle game.

To buy or not to buy: Fans of the puzzle gaming genre will love this app. If you like working out problems, this is the game for you.
