Apple Online Retail Store Is Offline, The Countdown Begins

Apple has temporarily closed the virtual doors to its online retail store in order to make updates. This is part and parcel for the iPad maker. Hours before a typical product announcement, the online retail store goes offline until the big event is over. Apple wants to make sure that customers have everything they want at their fingertips.

Past practices have proven that taking the store offline means that Apple is likely preparing the website with images and information on what is going to be announced in just a few hours.

It is a given that Apple will be releasing the newest generation of iPhone, but it has also been widely speculated that Apple will drop the iPad mini on us at the same event. Don’t get your hopes up too high. We’ve also been hearing rumors that Apple will announce the iPad mini at another fall event in October.

It is also very likely that iOS 6 will be announced at today’s event. Whether it will be available for download remains to be seen, but our bet is that we’ll be able to download the updated mobile operating system by the end of the announcement.

There have been murmurings in the pipeline that Apple is planning on refreshing their entire line of mobile product, including the current-generation iPad. If that is true, there is a strong likelihood that the new iPad will be redesigned to include the purported smaller dock connector.

Only a few hours from now, we will be learning about what Apple has in store for us. We’ll give you all the juicy details as they come up.
