PopCap Adds Retina Support and New Features in Plants vs. Zombies Update

PopCap is planning to release a sequel to Plants vs. Zombies in 2013, but in the meantime, the original version is getting some update love. Your favorite zombie title got a major refresh this morning, adding full Retina support for the third generation iPad and some awesome free levels.

We can finally see those rotting, flesh-dropping zombies and vibrant light-emitting sunflowers in full Retina glory!

There’s also an all new Last Stand game pack, which can be purchased for 100,000 coins or $0.99. In the Last Stand, you’ll fight off hordes of zombies without the help of your precious sunflowers. When you finish the five included levels, you can play the Last Stand in endless mode too.

While you play the Last Stand levels, you can use the new Mallet Pack to help you whack zombies. The Mallets can be purchased from Crazy Dave’s shop, and with the new weapons and the new levels comes three new achievements, bringing the game’s total achievements to 48.

If you already own Plants vs. Zombies HD the upgrade is free. If you don’t own the game, you should! It is a must have iconic iPad title that you can currently pick up for $2.99 from the App Store.
