Apple Sends Out Invitations to iPhone 5 Event on September 12

It’s official – the “rumored” September 12 Apple event we’ve been talking about for weeks is definitely happening, and the invitations have gone out.  It is scheduled to take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10 AM PST.

The iPhone 5 is pretty much a guarantee at this point given the strategic shadow on the invitation graphic, and it is expected to be available to the public September 21.  The new iOS 6 with a variety of new features is rumored to be released on September 12 or shortly after, and it is also likely that updated iPods will also be revealed at the event.

The latest generation of the iPhone is rumored to have a larger display and a new mini dock connector.  There’s also the possibility of NFC capabilities and 4G LTE for high-speed downloads.

Some had believed the iPad mini would also be revealed at the September 12 event, but the latest rumors report that it won’t be launched until October.  There’s a chance too that there could be a slight upgrade to the iPad 3 coming along with the iPad mini launch, likely including the new mini dock connector.

September 12 should definitely be an exciting day for all Apple fans!
