Puzzle Game Enthusiasts Will Love ThinkO – iPad Game Review

ThinkO is a challenging match–3 style puzzle where the goal is to move colored rings into squares of the same color in order to clear the squares from the board.

Moving a ring moves the entire row of rings, and since blocks come in all different shapes (think Tetris) you’ll need to think carefully before each move that you make.

Double and triple rings take over multiple lines, minimizing how you can move your single rings, to add even more of a challenge. You can undo your last move by swiping upwards towards the top of the screen.

There are three modes in this game: classic, puzzle, and speed. In classic mode, the idea is to eliminate the square blocks in as few moves as possible. Each time that you move a line, a new square is added.

In speed mode, you will race against the clock to clear squares from the board. You need to eliminate the blocks as fast as you can to progress through the levels.

In puzzle mode, there will be multiple small blocks on the screen. All of the blocks need to be eliminated at the same time, which takes some thinking to figure out.

There are special rings that you can get in the game, such as the rainbow or the diamond ring, but not all of these can be unlocked through gameplay. I was told that I unlocked the diamond ring, but it was still inaccessible unless I wanted to shell out cash.

This game has simple graphics, but the colors are bright and it is Retina ready. It looks great on the third generation iPad, which is part of the reason that ThinkO is one of the best strategy puzzle games that I’ve played in some time.

Puzzle mode is the most difficult, though speed mode can be quite tricky when you reach the higher levels. Classic mode is not simple either. In fact, each of these modes presents a significant challenge, which is great for those of you who love puzzles. If you like to think, you’ll love ThinkO.

What I liked: It’s bright, colorful, and challenging, everything that I enjoy in a puzzle game.

What I didn’t like: Rings cannot be unlocked during gameplay (currency is earned FAR too slowly), and instead you must pay additional cash to get access.

To buy or not to buy: ThinkO is addictive, trust me. I’ve spent several hours playing during the last few days, unable to put the game down. I recommend picking it up if you’re a puzzle lover.

I agree – ThinkO is one of the best puzzle games I’ve played in a while. I won’t say it’s easy to get enough currency to buy rings. It’s not. But it’s possible if you’re willing/able to score 3 dots on each level. And when you *do* unlock the special rings, it’s much easier to beat the higher levels.
