Get the Strangest Geography Lesson Ever with Aliens Abducted – iPad App Review

Aliens AbductedI am not sure what I expected when I loaded up this game, especially because I have a rule when it comes to evaluating apps that prevents me from reading the iTunes material until after I’ve given it a spin. With a name like Aliens Abducted, you have certain thoughts of space and conflict and really you likely aren’t considering how much you remember from your high school geography class. Well settle in and prime the pump –because you’re going to be facing your latest addiction with this game.

Join three abducted aliens, Moe, Barry and Marvin, taken from their home planets and “challenged to travel across the universe on a wisdom conquer journey.”

Before you even get into the meat of the game you will notice that the graphics are pretty fantastic; animations are slick and realistic and the characters are dynamic and colorful. If it’s been a while since you last looked at a globe, stop by the in-app library to learn each country’s shape, flag, capital city, and population. From there, choose a mode (Flags Level where you need to guess all of the country’s flags from easy to heard or Flags Free in which you travel all around the Earth guessing every country flag randomly) and make sure you get everything right within 3-tries before you lose all of your lives.

Good performance unlocked platform games, which is an added dimension you can look forward to.

What I liked: I quite enjoyed that for ‘Flags Free Mode’, the Canadian flag is being held right in front… okay, in all seriousness I loved that this app took me by surprise and had a theme that I’ve never actually seen before. This says a lot these days when every app is a variation of something that came before it.

What I didn’t like: With the Flags Level where they are supposed to go from easy to hard –I am not sure how they are judging difficulty. It all seems rather subjective depending on where you are in the world or where you are from. I can assure you that Uruguay would not be ‘easy’ for me and was a fluke when I guessed it correctly as my first selection.

To buy or not to buy: Aliens Abducted is fun and whimsical and you absolutely should own it!
