Her Interactive Brings Nancy Drew to iOS – A Kickstarter Project

Nancy Drew remains every girl’s favorite teen sleuth. After creating a successful line of Nancy Drew games for the Mac and PC, Her Interactive wants to bring Carolyn Keene’s heroine to the iPad, and they’ve turned to Kickstarter to do it.

Her Interactive plans to bring one of their most successful titles Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen to iOS, but this exciting project needs to raise a whopping $250,000 to reach its crowd source funding goal. Although the company has released one of its titles, Shadow Ranch, for iOS, their plans for Tomb of the Lost Queen are more ambitious.

Her Interactive’s Nancy Drew games appeal for the same reasons that Nancy herself has drawn readers for 82 years. As an iOS port, players go mobile, yet they will still be able to learn about other cultures in real world settings that exude a sense of adventure. Players must use logic to decode clues as always, but an updated UI makes the game more amenable to play on the iPad.

Geared at players age 10 and up, Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen isn’t just gaming for girls, though girls (including ’90s-era popsters Tuscadero) have traditionally flocked to Nancy. Bringing the game to iOS offers a new generation of digital natives the chance to encounter Nancy as their grandmother and mothers have.

According to Her Interactive chief creative officer Megan Gaiser, “The Nancy Drew brand creates instant bonding with girls of all ages because she reminds us that we are all smart, gutsy and resourceful and together we are making this a better world.”

Interested backers need only pledge $10 to receive a copy of the Nancy Drew: Tomb of the Lost Queen. However, Her Interactive has some really cool offers for backers at higher pledge levels. Backers who pledge $250 will get their picture included in the app!

Backers can expect delivery of their game and other prizes by April 2013.

Help Her Interactive bring Nancy Drew into the 21st century by making a pledge before the funding period for this project ends on September 11, 2012.
