Awaken (or Tickle) the Artist Within Using Sumo.FM – iPad App Review

SumoFMBranding itself as a truly unique set of creation tools, Sumo.Fm is a fantastic tool for any of you who are artists (professional, hobbiests or otherwise).

Let me start by stating that I have no artistic skill to speak of. I can barely create an identifiable stick figure. This app made me feel competent and I actually enjoyed trying my hand (finger) at some sketching.

Those with inspiration will be in a happy place with this app. Choose from a crazy number of effects like the symmetry and gravity tools, which while difficult to explain without giving them a test drive are sure to be a lot of fun for you to try.

More sophisticated artists will likely stick with the more regular looking paint brushes and pen style tools, though I have to admit that the hand print and foot print brushes really appealed to me. Zoomed out, it just looks like a regular line, but pull the view in closer and suddenly you are stamping your paper with flowers or feathers or any number of fun objects (kids will especially love this)!

Of course, the standard sharing features also apply: get those custom creations up on Facebook and Twitter for all to admire!

What I liked: Artists of all skill levels will enjoy this app. Consider pairing it with a stylus or paint-brush accessory for your iPad to truly extend it even further!

What I didn’t like: I wish there were more in-app instructions. When you open it up, you are greeted by a giant plus sign but no real direction or information that helps you to get started.

To buy or not to buy: There is no question that Sumo.Fm is beyond being ‘just another drawing app’, and would be an excellent addition to the iPad of any user who loves to sketch and draw.
